It never ceases to amaze me at how many different product categories some companies are in to. Kyocera is a perfect example, the company makes mobile phones and other consumer electronic devices, and it also makes a line of ceramic products like knives and other items.

Kyocera announced its financial results for the quarter ending on June 30, Q1 fiscal 2010 for the company. The company saw consolidated net sales drop 32.1% compared with the same quarter last year and a weakening demand for digital equipment like semiconductors and a decrease in demand for its mobile handsets.
The company reports an overall net operating loss of $5 million for the quarter. The loss was much more significant if you look at the company on a segment-by-segment basis. It’s hardly surprising that the company is losing money in the mobile market; it hasn’t had a popular handset in a long time.
