Flyers for LG’s latest touchscreen cellphone have shown up over at HowardForums, with the metal-bodied slider headed to Alltel in what’s expected to be the near future.  With a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen featuring a PRADA-like menu system, together with a slide-out number pad, 2-megapixel camera with flash, EV-DO and Bluetooth, the handset most closely resembles LG’s Shine.

The handset also has a microSD slot supporting cards up to 4GB in size, speaker-independent voice control, is compatible with Alltel’s Access TV and Navigation subscription services and features the A2DP stereo Bluetooth profile for wireless headphones.  The Glimmer’s media player can handle MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+ audio files, playlists and appears as a mass storage device when hooked up to your PC via USB.

LG are quoting the Glimmer as managing up to 3.5hrs talktime or 7 days standby from its 800mAh battery; it weighs 4.48oz and measures 4 x 2.05 x 0.59-inches.  No release date or price have been indicated

  1. Chad at Alltel says:

I guess that consumer reports couldn’t rate us any higher than #1 in all markets compared against Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. I’ll live with what they say…Critic.

I’m not sure which criticism you’re referring to, Chad?

The Glimmer is so far with the best overall coverage provider. I use mine 3-4 hours a day and it has been great so far. Blackberry is the phone that sucks had 10 with 3 different carriers and not a one could do a third of what was promised. The Glimmer is so far best on market with best carrier Alltel.

Oh, yay! I have Alltel, but was [when my 2 year contract's up this summer] going to get the same phone my cousins [who have AT&T, duh] have, the LG Shine. However, now there’s this which sounds like all of that and more…. can’t wait!! [By the way, I have only been two spots in two years with my phone that I can't get service in: Northern Kentucky (hills) and parts of Oklahoma (mountains)] So there!

  11. Melissa says:

I am totally bummed! All the research I have done says the glimmer is the best phone. So why can’t I get it? When I went in to Alltel after researching the best phone because we are going wireless (so good phone important) I was told they are not available because there was too many problems with them. How do you make best rated then?

  12. Noemi says:

    This phones SUXKS

  13. Stephanie says:

I HATE MY GLIMMER!!!!! It is the worst phone I’ve ever owned. The battery gets so incredibly hot it will burn your hand, the touch screen is always acting weird, and yesterday it completly stopped working. Well, when that goes out, you can’t access ANYTHING, so I can’t even open the phonebook to get my old contacts out of it. I get bad reception in my house now, but with my old Razr, it was fine.. so now I have to go buy a phone to replace this one. I dont know how it could get such great ratings.. my razr lasted 3x this long before I ever had a single issue.
