Opinium Research on behalf of website Moneysupermarket.com quizzed just over 2,000 British adults and discovered that 34% of LG owners experienced “unspecified problems” with their handsets. Following the least reliable LG came Sony Ericson, Samsung, Nokia and finally Motorola.

Stereotyping the users of each phone company, James Parker, Manager of Mobiles at Moneysupermarket.com suggested LG “tech boffins” suffer the brunt force of faults as they are “often the most advanced phones.” Sceptical of the recent announcements by Sony Ericson, namely the 12MP Idou, according to Parker the SE brand statistically attracts “music nerds”, not the “snap-happy photo geeks” reportedly buying Samsung products.
It may be no surprise that phones containing the most features, components and functionality could be the most problematic. It will be a test for the future with LG looking to compete in the 12MP cameraphone market. Containing that much technology into an item so small, consumers will wonder quite simply, will it work? The ear will be to the ground to see if LG can improve on the current reliability statistics and previous consumer experience.
