LG Electronics revealed their Q4 sales results, and market-watchers will be pleased to hear that the pattern of incredible success in the telecommunications field has continued: LG shipped 23.7 million cellphones in the final quarter of 2007, up nearly 40-percent on 2006. Handset revenue rose 12-percent, to around $3 billion, and overall operating profit for 2007 was increased twelve-old from the previous year.

Particular credit was attributed to the LG Voyager and Venus handsets in the US, and the 5-megapixel Viewty in Europe (550,000 of which have been sold). 3G phones also increased in market share.
LG predicts a rise to 100 million units shipped in 2008, equivalent to a 25-percent increase, although analysts are more conservative and expect half that rate.
Altogether, LG has 7.1-percent of the global sector marketshare.
