While we knew it was coming, the exact release date and price of LG’s Scoop (aka Rumor) on the Alltel network was a mystery until today. Priced at $59.99 thanks to a $40 mail-in rebate, the QWERTY-equipped slider is available today in three colours – orange, blue and slate – and comes with AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger preinstalled.
The Scoop also has a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, email app, a music and video capable media player and support for microSD cards up to 4GB in size.
A renamed version of the LG Rumor for Sprint, the Scoop is also “GPS capable”, weighs 4.2oz and measures 2 x 4.33 x 0.7-inches. Battery life is quoted at up to 180 minutes talktime or up to 140 hours standby.

misx.steph, Alltel has these for free now after you send in a $50 rebate. Only catch is you have to sign up for a 2 year contract. I’ve spent a couple months looking around and there isn’t anything like it in it’s price range or that doesn’t require a more expensive data plan. I can’t wait for it to get here.

This phone is a piece! I haven’t even had it for my whole two years and it shuts off on its own all the time. When I took it to the Alltel store, the guy working even said that he’s had a lot of people come in saying their having problems with it… DON’T BUY IT! IT’S CRAP!
