When it comes to sending text messages, I am far from fast. I can’t really blame my slow message composition on the on-screen keyboard of my iPhone. I am just as slow texting on a Blackberry as I am on my iPhone.
Some people out there can send text messages faster than I type on my computer keyboard. LG is looking for the nation’s fastest texter with the LG U.S. National Texting Championship. LG reports that 250,000 text messagers played for a shot at the title.
A total of 22 challengers have made it through to the semi-finals in New York where they will face off. Six out of that 22 will make it to the final round and the winner of the final round will be the nation’s fastest texter. The winner will receive $50,000 and the bragging rights for the fastest texter in the land.

Be advised! LG won’t allow the competition to include anything but one common LG device. So anyone thinking they might get to prove their Nokia N95 T9 texting speeds are the fastest will still have to wait. Otherwise, I’d be the heavyweight champion…
