While the iPhone 3G hangs in the balance of availability and its battery life remains in question, one thing can be said for certain: it’s fast.
I’m not just talking your typical, application-running fast. I mean the Internet. And to be specific, MobileSafari is lightning quick. Clicking on links brings you to new pages faster. Images load quicker. And not to mention, Javascript is loaded in a flash. This can be blamed (in a good way) on the WebKit rendering engine. Safari on your Mac uses this open source engine as well, but now that WebKit has gotten an upgrade, performance across the board has improved.
Side-by-side comparisons prove it: iPhone 2.0 makes web browsing a faster, more pleasant experience with more of the feel of a desktop computer’s speed.
