Motorola and Tessera Enter License Agreement

Motorola and Tessera have been in a patent infringement dispute over patents that reportedly have to do with chip packaging in devices like mobile phones sold by Motorola. Motorola wasn’t alone in landing as a defendant in the infringement suit; QUALCOMM was also named by Tessera.

Today Tessera and Motorola announced that they have entered into a license agreement that allows Motorola to use the technology y in Tessera patents. Motorola will pay Tessera royalty fees to use the patented TCC Technology at the core of the suit.

The settlement will allow Motorola to pay a volume fee for unlicensed chips and allows Motorola to avoid any interruption in the shipment of its devices. The amount of the license fees Motorola is paying to Tessera is unknown.
