Details of Motorola’s Atila smartphone, the non-keyboard version of the previously leaked Windows Mobile 6.1 Alexander, have leaked, and for once Motorola look to be onto a winner. The Atila (which is a codename and unlikely to be the final name) is the first Motorola device to have triband UMTS/HSDPA (850MHz/1900MHz/2100MHz), although disappointingly the company have stuck with QVGA for their 2.8-inch touchscreen.
Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, the Atila is capable of 7.2Mbps HSDPA downloads and 1.8Mbps HSUPA uploads. It also has WiFi b/g and, although unconfirmed at this time, is likely to include Bluetooth 2.0 as well. Dimensions are 80 x 109 x 13.75mm, and it uses Qualcomm’s 7201A chipset.
Other than that, the only thing known is that Motorola have picked a 1130mAh battery. No idea of release date or price, but it looks to actually be a smartphone worth waiting for. Now that’s something Motorola really need right now.
