According to an article posted in a U.K. magazine, Motorola is looking to bring full length films to mobile devices in the form of a movie store. The article claims to have sources at Paramount that are saying Motorola is in the “late stages” of developing this movie store. Paramount is said to be the only movie studio involved. Even with only Paramount, a good amount of movies would be available.

Though touted as a ‘breakthrough’ the service would essentially work just like it does with most other phones. The user would download the movie using the computer, and then transfer the movie to the device. There would be a proprietary application to load the movies, much in the same way as iTunes works with the iPhone. While it is not unheard of for manufacturers to allow loading of movies, it is still a relatively untouched field.
It is not said if the service will allow movies to be rented, or bought outright and owned. It is also not said if it will use a DRM scheme to limit use of the movie one device. More likely than not that will be the case. There is no pricing mentioned in the article. The report states that the service may be seen as early as the end of May.
