Today, it became evident that Motorola has moved forward with filing a lawsuit against the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. The company’s reasoning is rooted in the belief that Huawei stole trade secrets from Motorola. This comes from the belief that former Motorola employees, which had left the company, made their way over to Huawei and then provided those secrets to the rival company.
The information is mainly centered around Motorola’s cell phone technology. As it stands right now, it looks like Motorola is looking for an unspecified amount in damages, plus the return of its trade secrets. There’s no telling right now what this will turn into, if anything at all, but we’re curious to see what kind of trade secrets these employees supposedly stole, and how it would really affect Motorola. Of course, all trade secrets are important — or they wouldn’t be called trade secrets.
