The most complicated thing that I do on my smartphone is try to create a legible and easy to understand text message. Anyone who uses the predictive text feature on the iPhone knows what I mean. Some people use their smartphones for all sorts of other tasks.

One thing I had not considered was the use of a smartphone by emergency personnel to help manage an emergency. A new Android application called Mutualink Smartphone Commander has been unveiled. The application is designed to provide field functionality on Mutualink secure distributed ad-hoc multi-media emergency communications.

The app hopes to make it easier for different agencies working on the same emergency to better communicate together. The app can manage interoperable communications like radios, mobile and landline phones, video and data connectivity.
