Dual band phones are common enough for devices that are designed to allow communication using multiple networks. Mobile phone users that travel internationally often have this type of dual band phone.

TCM Mobile has announced that it will be releasing a new dual-band mobile phone that will operate on both the TCM Mobile Cellular VoIP network and traditional GSM cellular networks when outside the VoIP coverage area.

The handset is reportedly coming to market in the next three months. A GSM VoIP cellular network will be the default mode of communication for the handset and TCM says that the handset will be the first to use VoIP as the default form of connectivity. Specifications and pricing are unknown.
