Nokia has confirmed it is still working on its own iPhone rival, codenamed “Tube” and using the S60 Touch OS that we were so underwhelmed by at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. Including images of the prototype device as part of a developer conference in California this week, the Tube handset showed graphical displays, including Shrek the Third promo material, and closely resembles the iPhone. Tom Libretto, VP of Forum Nokia, said that the Finnish company is yet to confirm the shipping date for the handset, saying only that “It’s our first touch device”.

The presentation also featured a few smackdown slides aimed at Apple, with Nokia comparing their current volume shipments to that of the iPhone; Apple had shipped four million iPhones by January, prompting Libretto to comment “We’ve done that [volume] since we’ve had dinner on Friday.”
