After weeks of speculation, Nokia finally announced the N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition at the beginning of the month. While we knew it would be available at some point over the Summer – to coincide with Sprint’s increasing WiMAX coverage – what we weren’t sure of was the premium you’d have to pay over the standard touchscreen device. Thanks to a Buy.com pre-order page, however, it’s now become clear that Nokia are only expecting $50 more than for the cellular-free version.

The N810 WiMAX Edition will apparently have a MRSP of $479.99, with Buy.com having it on offer at $455.99. It’s showing up as “Sold Out”, and there’s no suggestion as to when they’re expecting it to actually ship. Similarly, we’ve no further information about WiMAX coverage or monthly tariffs.
With a 4.13-inch touchscreen, slide-out keyboard and – in addition to WiMAX – WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, the newest N810 variant is likely to be one of Sprint’s flagship devices for its mobile broadband network. The handheld runs a Linux-based OS, and has GPS, a webcam and 2GB of onboard storage, expandable via microSD card. It’ll also feature the latest Nokia Internet Tablet OS, with RSS reader, new email client and “seamless software update” function.

Isn’t the MSRP of the standard n810 $479? How is this $50 less?

I just had a little query, the nokia n810 only has a 2.5GHz wimax chip what if my company has a licensed 4.9GHz channel. Would the n810 work or not and is there any other set that is working on the mentioned frequency?
