WirelessInfo’s Alfredo Padilla has posted an insanely detailed review of the Nokia N82, the Finnish company’s latest do-anything cellphone that packs GPS, WiFi, HSDPA and a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and xenon flash.  Alfredo is pretty blunt about the handset, liking the well-integrated functionality, rated the camera as “among the best we’ve seen” and pegged the video capture as excellent, but criticising build-quality, a fiddly and occasionally error-prone keypad and average to below-average audio quality.

“The Nokia N82 is not an upgrade to any specific device in Nokia’s lineup. It can be thought of as the Nokia N72 on steroids or the Nokia N95 in a candybar form factor. Either way it will probably represent the sweet spot in Nokia’s N-Series lineup as the N70 and N73 did before … If you’re not a media maven you can save a lot of money by looking at other devices like the AT&T Tilt or BlackBerry Pearl 8130 that provide many of the N82’s same features at a much lower price. If you do want a multimedia device the N82 is probably going make you salivate, just be prepared to dig deep into your pockets” Alfredo Padilla, WirelessInfo

The N82 is available for preorder, unlocked, in the US direct from Nokia [via IntoMobile], priced at $629 and with a delivery estimate of February 12th – be warned, though, that WCDMA support is only on the 2100MHz band, limiting use outside of Europe.
