Nokia has seen a real need to make some changes and again reorganize their organization. Today they officially announced a few of the changes that will take place. The markets unit will be making a few changes as a follow up to the reorganization in the beginning of 2008.

The Nokia Research Center (NRC) plans to sharpen its focus on fewer, more key point areas.  Nokia plans to close its site in Turku Finland and relocate the activities taking place there to the Salo Finland location. The Turku location currently has 220 employees working there that Nokia encourages to continue working at the Salo or capitol area locations.

There will also be changes to the smaller workforce groups in global process operations. Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Juha Äkräs said, “Today’s changes are part of Nokia’s constant renewal where it is important to be close to our customers and ensure that our people are able to focus on the key business priorities. Also, our aim is to find alternative work within Nokia for as many employees as possible.”
