No one can get enough of the Tube! At least it seems that way. Nokia’s first touchscreen phone is making headlines today as rumors abound about its impending announcement. Now, industry sources are claiming the code-named “Tube” will be announced as early as next week.

The thinking here is that Nokia will be able to offer the touchscreen model at a cheaper rate, therefore drawing a larger slice of the market. The primary competition at this point would be Apple’s iPhone 3G, with the LG and Samsung models falling in behind.

Since the demand for touchscreens has taken off, Nokia waited a bit to ensure the market was there, that their technology was as good as it could be and that they’d be able to offer such a product at a competitive price. Sounds reasonable enough for me. Now let me at the Tube!
