Amid financial troubles, Openmoko is halting development of the next iteration of its mobile smartphone. The announcement was made during a conference in Switzerland.

Openmoko CEO Sean Moss-Pultz has said, that his company has discontinued the development of the next iteration of its FreeRunner open-source Linux mobile smartphone. The move comes as the company is struggling to maintain operations as it is, let alone through the development of the next iteration.

The current state of play for the Company is that they only sold 10,000 units of the current Neo FreeRunner device. To start open for business, the company has already reduced its staff by 50%. The company is re-focusing its efforts on a new product, which is not a mobile phone.
