Palm has sent out a letter to certain customers with an offer to beta test an ‘innovative new product’. The requisites for the test are that the customer has access to a WiFi router and are current subscribers to Sprint. Testers must also be ‘heavy’ smart phone and email users. This device is assumed to be the upcoming Treo 800w for Sprint.

We have a new opportunity for people in an enterprise environment who want to an innovative device for connectivity from Palm, one of the global leaders in communication. If you are interested in applying, please visit the following link.

The letter does confirm that the new Treo will have WiFi of course. The Treo 800w will also be one of the first devices to hit the scene with Windows Mobile 6.1. The Treo 800w is scheduled to be released in July, so testing right now seems about right, so that Palm can get some time to work out any potential bugs.

The Treo 800w looks a somewhat like it’s little brother, the Palm Centro, unlike the Centro though, the 800w will be all about business. The feature set is very clearly aimed at the business man.

Editor’s note: We got confirmation that beta testing is reserved for customers only and members of the press isn’t accepted into the program.
