If you have a tendency to get lost, the Palm Centro being unlocked is good news for you. You will now be able to get My Location and Google Maps on your Palm Centro.

Yesterday they were just offering it to the general public for $299 but today it is for free for all of the current Palm customers. The phone can now be used with any quad-band GSM carrier.

My Location is great for pinpointing your location on a map and even showing which direction you are going. Sadly Sprint customers won’t be able to use the unlocked phone until late this summer.

The approach with the Cento is to appeal younger demographic by functioning as a personal communications device first. More than likely the fresh design and smaller form factor will appeal to new and first time smartphone users, who may have been put off by the bulk and business like reputation of previous devices
