Another week has gone by, they go so quick. This week has been one of waiting, actually. We are three days out from HTC’s May 6th event to be held in London. There have been some teasers from the event though. The show stopper, the HTC Diamond, was photographed and it’s spec sheet revealed. Notable goodies that were revealed were Windows Mobile 6.1, VGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, and 4GB of internal storage, with MicroSD expansion on the table.

The mystery Sidekicks were revealed to be just one Sidekick. The device has two names, the Gekko and Aspen. It seems apparent that the final name has not been chosen yet. Not much is known about the device. It will have the same Sharp AQUOS LCD that the current Sidekick has. It is rumored that the device will launch at the end of July, this is not confirmed though.

T-Mobile fans may now rejoice. The long awaited 3G network is now up and running in New York City. The network right now is launched as UMTS, but it is assumed it will be upgraded soon, as their equipment is HSDPA capable. Contrary to earlier reports, the network is voice and data. What a relief!
The long awaited CDMA BlackBerry Curve is scheduled to launch on Verizon Wireless on May 9th. The device has been enjoyed on GSM networks for quite some time. While we are talking about Verizon Wireless, the Samsung Glyde will launch May 9th as well. This device features a touch screen, and a slide out full QWERTY keyboard. It will have EV-DO data, and is based on the F700 in Europe.
The BlackBerry Curve is not the only news in the BlackBerry world. A new device was outed, it is the BlackBerry Kickstart. This device will be the first BlackBerry flip phone. Subsequently, more details were released. The specs will be a 2 megapixel camera, SureType, WiFi, and EGE data. The device has a rumored launch of September.

Nokia rounds out our week in review, with their three new “beautiful to use” handsets. The devices are all Series 40 phones, two new candy bars and a flip phone. These phones are slated to be affordable, ranging in price from $273 – $429. The flip is particularly nifty, with a tap-to-awake OLED display.

Make sure to join us on Tuesday 6th May for the PHONE Magazine Livecast of HTC’s launch event!
