Well it’s Sunday again, and that means it is time to take a look back on the events of the week. It has been a big week for a lot of manufacturers, and tons of excitement. Without a doubt though, one event has stolen the week, and that event was Google IO. At Google IO this year, they unveiled the now much refined and final quality version of their Android platform.

Android got a very thorough demonstration at the event, and it is looking extremely promising. We got a video of the device being demonstrated on this unknown capacitive touch device, and it has some serious quality to it. If all that was not enough than Google also provided a Q&A session for the press, in which Google gave some interesting details about their platform out.
Samsung’s latest device, the SGH-F480 ‘Tocco’ was released this week. Phone Magazine has a demo unit, which will be reviewed in detail soon. The device features the new widget ready interface TOUCHWIZ, which was just developed by Samsung. The device is very small, and hosts a capacitive touch screen, with a very respectable 5 mega pixel camera. Why Tocco you ask? It means ‘Touch’ in Italian, a very fitting name.

The FCC is considering an auction to sell off the remaining AWS spectrum, called AWS III. This spectrum is from 2155MHz to 2180MHz, which is the upper most reaches of the AWS band. AWS is used by T-Mobile to provide 3G services, and is used by MetroPCS and Cricket to provide voice and data services. All of these carriers could be potential buyers.
There has been a lot of news about Symbian as of late, with a S60 Samsung slider being announced,
there is more to come. The device is very sleek, and has a solid feature set. It includes a 3.2 mega pixel camera, the latest in S60, and it is all topped off in a brushed aluminum style case to finish it off.

The Nokia N96 will begin shipping on July 31st. This will be the replacement to the Nokia N95, which will have to hand its crown as Nseries top dog down at that time. The device takes the N95’s features and builds upon them, including doubling the memory and going with a new case design, which is similar to the N81. We all know though, this thing is no N81.
