This week in mobile news has been a busy one, with quite a few big announcements. We found out this week that the long awaited Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 handset would come in two colors, the dark gray/black we see now, and a new one called ‘Steel Silver’. The device is the first Sony Ericsson handset ever to run Windows Mobile.

Verizon gave us something to think about this week, when a slide of future products and services showed up on the internet. In the line up are the Treo 800w, the i770, which will be an update to the i760. The i760 will get a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade, and so will the XV6800. The slide also revealed Verizon’s ambitions to create a Rev. A PTT network, known better as QChat.

Aliph’s new Jawbone 2 Bluetooth headset is fantastic to say the least. The device’s superior noise cancellation, and comfort, make this device a dream to wear. The Jawbone 2 got a thorough review this week by yours truly, and let me sum it up for you. This headset is amazing, it is expensive, but worth it time and time again.

Verizon subscribers waiting for the popular Palm Centro got some good news this week, with dummies of the device showing up at some Circuit City stores. The dummy of the device is the same blue color as we saw in the press quality shots of the Centro for Verizon that were leaked. It is not known when the device will drop, but we have to think it is soon with dummies already making the rounds.

HTC just continues to dazzle us with its impressive Windows Mobile offerings. We do not say that lightly, with the HTC Touch Pro, or Raphael, coming out of the gates this week. The device is one monster of a Windows Mobile phone, with a full keyboard, 288MB of RAM, 3.2 mega pixel camera, and a 2.8 inch screen at VGA resolution.

Perhaps the biggest news of this week is one that is going to shake things up quite a bit, the Verizon-Alltel merger. There were talks, and then a full on confirmation by Verizon that it was going down. The deal forms the largest carrier in the nation, in both coverage and subscribers.

Lot of hands on and reviews for you to look at this week. There was the hands on with Nokia’s new N78, an unboxing of the HTC Touch Diamond, and a thorough review of the new Samsung Instinct for Sprint. Remember, WWDC is tomorrow, so make sure to bookmark live.iphonebuzz.com, to stay updated on the action.
