We started out the week with a bang here on PhoneMag, with rumors flying that the Blackberry Enterprise Server isn’t as secure as once thought. It seems hackers can attack individuals by means of maliciously coded PDFs. Then we learned that E Ink is being used on Casio and HItachi phones for lightweight, artistic look.

Verizon’s Q2 results were impressive, showing a 45.3% increase in data transfer and 1.5 million new subscribers. But disappointing news came from Garmin, as the nuvifone has been pushed back until 2009.

Two important bits of T-Mobile news are worth mentioning. First, the BlackBerry Curve Sunset will soon be added to the T-Mobile line up and second, the T-Mobile Sidekick was announced, which allows users to customize their cases with photos and more.

An important Samsung Instinct update occurred as well, improving performance and making the Bluetooth louder. While the updates pave the way for greater improvements later down the line, none were outright impressive at this time.

Moving right along, the Nokia N96 may very well be slated for an October 2008 release and an Android-based phone could be coming from HTC in the latter months of the year. The Skyfire browser just entered beta testing and initial user reports are quite positive as it supports both Flash and Ajax. Plus, there was exciting news for Palm, as they sold their 2 millionth Centro.

Lastly, we heard about a U.S. bill that has made it over the first hurdles in Congress that would make inflight cell phone calls illegal. However, texting, instant messaging and web browsing would remain unaffected.
