In an effort to bring more slide out QWERTY keyboard handsets to US users HTC has finally unveiled the HTC S743. Unlike the HTC Touch Pro this smartphone offers the QWERTY keyboard and also alphanumeric keypad for fast dialing. The HTC S743 has a large 2.4-inch QVGA screen and supports the high-speed HSDPA (850/1900 MHz) network for blacking fast Internet access.

Motorola has announced three new handsets that were on display at CES this week in Los Vegas. The three included the eco-friendly MOTO W3233 Renew, tough Tundra VA76r and the new touchscreen MOTOSURF A3100 which runs Windows Mobile 6.1. All three handsets are notable in their own ways covering multiple areas of the market. This week we received reports that Nokia has decided to discontinue its N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition.
Microsoft has managed to pull ahead of Google and Yahoo for a major search deal with Verizon Wireless. This deal is expected to generate between $550 million to $650 million in guaranteed revenue a year. Big news this week at CES as Palm announced the new webOS mobile platform along with the new Palm Pre. The Palm Pre is a touchscreen handset that has a QWEERTY keyboard that slides out the bottom of the device for quick email and text messaging.
This month T-Mobile is set to get the Nokia 7510 SuperNova clamshell device. T-Mobile will be offering this handset exclusively with the T-Mobile branding. The device shown at CES features Series 40 6th Edition, WebKit Open Source Browser, Nokia Maps 1.2, push-to-open key, FM RDS Radio, Flash Lite 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR and MIDP Java 2.1 with additional Java APIs.

SlashGear had the time this week to introduce a new community site called PreCommunity.com. As the name implies this community will be based around the newly announced Palm Pre handset. The US also gets to have the Nokia E63 complete with 3G support. Possibly the best news about the release of this unlocked device in the US is the $279 price tag.
Skype has finally made its way over the Android as well as more than 100 other Java-enabled mobile phones from LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. At CES this week we also got a chance to get a hands on with the new OpenMoko FreeRunner running Google’s Android platform. Ewdison of slashgear wrote: “Many might wonder why they are showing a competitor platform on their handset, the answer is simple; OpenMoko supports open source movement and welcome any development involving their handset even if it utilizing other Linux stacks. Android runs quite well on FreeRunner, this does not surprise me at all as they are both based on the same platform.â€
