This week started with PHONE Magazine team coverage from the arena of Mobile World Congress 2009. Sony Ericsson have announced the W995 Walkman phone, an 8.1-megapixel cameraphone with A-GPS, WiFi and Media Go.The W995 Walkman supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UTMS/HSPA 900/2100.

Sony Ericsson have also introduced an upcoming handset called Idou (its code name), powered by the Symbian Foundation OS. This phone offers a 12.1-megapixel autofocus camera and VGA-resolution resistive touchscreen 3.5-inch 16:9 widescreen display.
Bitstream Inc. announced the availability of BOLT at MWC Barcelona. The mobile browser provides a desktop-like view of the Internet on virtually any mobile phone. Users can download the beta version for free by visiting http://boltbrowser.com.
HTC Corporation unveiled the HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2 –each updates of the original devices. The two gadgets utilize HTC’s latest TouchFLO 3D interface that has been more deeply integrated into a customized version of Windows Mobile 6.1.
Samsung unveiled the Samsung Omnia HD, with a switch from Windows Mobile 6.1 to Symbian S60 and set a new music phone line up by announcing two BEAT Edition mobile phones, the Samsung BEATDJ and Samsung BEATDISC.

Nokia announced the N86 8MP, the first Nokia phone to break the 8 megapixel camera mark. It features Carl Zeiss optics with triband 3G HSDPA/HSUPA, a 2.6-inch OLED display running at 240 x 320 QVGA resolution, and 8GB of onboard memory augmented with microSD cards.
Microsoft have officially announced Windows Phone (a new name for latest version of Windows Mobile, version 6.5), Microsoft My Phone (an online backup service for Windows Phones) and Windows Marketplace (an on-device app store).
HTC and Vodafone have officially announced the second Android-based smartphone, the HTC Magic. Huawei Technologies also showcased its first Android-powered smart phone at the event.
Nokia and Qualcomm have announced a partnership to develop advanced UMTS S60 mobile devices for North America market. With Skype, Nokia announced a partnership to integrate Skype into Nokia devices.

AT&T announced the Pantech Matrix Pro (aka Pantech Duo 2), will be available at February 24th. The successor to Pantech Duo features dual-sliding, double-keyboard and includes a larger LCD screen, tri-band 3G and AT&T Video Share calling.
