Verizon announced its Q2 results yesterday and it was rather impressive. Verizon Wireless added on 1.5 million new subscribers and a 45.3% increase in data revenue, bringing the totals up to 68.7 million subscribers and $2.6 billion, respectively.

It seems Verizon is pleasing its subscriber base as well, with a churn rate of only 1.12%. Not too shabby.

And you want to know something interesting? An estimated 780 million text messages are sent per day on the Verizon Wireless network. People’s thumbs certainly are busy! So Verizon is sailing right along for the moment, though we’ll have to see if they can sustain this sort of growth once the next quarter’s results are released.
