When a device as prominent as a BlackBerry has made its way to almost every other CDMA-based wireless carrier in all the regions available, then there’s hardly any doubt in our mind that it’s going to drop for regional-specific carriers next. And, while US Cellular may not be at the top of everyone’s radar on a day-to-day basis, the sixth largest wireless carrier in the United States is indeed one that serves quite a few people. And, thanks to their Facebook page, we can safely say that they’re getting a new device near the end of the Summer.
“We’re thrilled to announce that the new BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be coming to U.S. Cellular stores in early August! It’s got a 2.4 HVGA Display, 3.2MP camera, Wi-Fi, Optical Track Pad Navigation and World Phone capabilities. Yes, this is one great smartphone — if we may be so, ahem, bold. ”
The 9650 has been released for both Sprint and Verizon already, so US Cellular picking it up isn’t a bad deal at all, especially for all those customers out there looking for a new BlackBerry device to put in their pocket. Unfortunately, other than “early August,” there’s not much to go on. No price, either, but we imagine it won’t go for too much to hurt the wallet. Stay tuned; as soon as we know more, we’ll pass it along.
