While a number of companies are struggling, Research in Motion seems to be doing quite the opposite. Reporting to the quarter ending in Feb 09, the company is up many millions of dollars.

Here are a few number regardless of the situation you are in (or phone you own) to make you feel a little better knowing that there are a few companies still doing ok in rather tough times. Research in Motion (RIM) have reported a 84% increase in profits for the current fiscal year. During the time frame, the company shipped 26 million devices and added 3.9 million new BlackBerry subscriber accounts to the books bringing their total number of users to 25 million.

The breakdown in finances is as follows; the fourth quarter net income increased to $518.3 million (from $412.5 million for Q4 2007) totalling a 25.6% increase. Total revenue for the fourth quarter was up 24.5% to $3.46 billion from $2.78 billion. Revenue for the fiscal year was $11.07 billion, this the 84% increase from $6.01 billion last year.

Jim Balsillie, RIM’s co-CEO, said in a statement:

We are very pleased to report another record quarter with standout subscriber growth that speaks volumes about the early success and momentum of our new BlackBerry products.

RIM experienced an extraordinary year in fiscal 2009, shipping our 50 millionth BlackBerry smartphone and generating $11 billion in revenue. Looking ahead into fiscal 2010, we see exceptional opportunities for RIM and its partners to leverage the investments and success of the past year to continue growing market share and profitability.
