The 5th edition of the Symbian S60 platform has been long-awaited, but it looks like you can finally get a bird’s eye view of what the new OS will offer. However, initial response has been a bit lackluster, with many noting how very much the S60 with Touch looks like the regular old S60.

Likewise, at this point in time, anyway, it seems the only real touch capabilities have replaced the D-pad. That’s all right, I suppose, but a stylus may still be required to get at the smaller menus. But since an actual, “touchable” demo hasn’t surfaced yet, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What’s a bit disappointing is the fact that the leaked screenshots were really just made with the S60 theme editor. It’s better than nothing though, right?
