Samsung leaked details about the i740 today. The phone is a quad-band GSM/GPRS without Wi-Fi, built to flirt with customers overwhelmed by Omnia and the i780’s price tag. Unfortunately, it also underwhelms with its missing bag of tricks.

The i740 has a 2.8″ TFT display, runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro OS, and has a 624 MHz processor. There is a built-in GPS receiver and a 3 megapixel camera capable of scanning business cards. The phone also has FM radio, A2DP Bluetooth, and a microSD card slot.
The i740 features an all-metal body and measures 107 x 59 x 13.8mm. It is scheduled to debut before the end of summer, probably without a splash.

We believe that the Samsung i740 is a low-budget smartphone. Of course, we’re excited about the Samsung OMNIA (i900), there is also a need to recognize that there are people who would like a PDA-phone that’s less expensive but still capable of handling push-email and GPS functions.
