Samsung’s Instinct has received its first software update, a little over a month since the handset itself launched on Sprint’s network.� The update, which will be offered automatically as well as via manual install, contains only minor tweaks but does pave the way for a more significant upgrade promised for later on in the year.�

Changes right now, however, include reduced fluctuation in the Instinct’s battery and signal strength indicators (including the battery meter now registering 100-percent on full charge) and�increased volume when using a Bluetooth headset.� You can also choose to set a saved image as the handset’s wallpaper.� According to Samsung and Sprint, the update also modifies the Instinct’s base code�in preparation for the next, larger release.

Owners will automatically receive a push text message with the update over the next week; alternatively it can be triggered manually.� To do so, go to “Main” and then press “settings” >�”general” > “update software”.

We’ve updated our Instinct - it was quick and we were back using the handset in a minute or two - and will be keeping an eye on it to see whether stability is affected.� Initial impressions are that Bluetooth seems a little louder, but nothing that previously tweaking up the headset’s volume wouldn’t achieve.
