Samsung has shown off it’s new battery concept for mobiles, a battery that is powered by water. Special metals react with the water and produce hydrogen gas, the gas is then passed to a fuel cell, where oxygen from the air reacts with the hydrogen to produce electricity.

This is very exciting news, as there are several advantages to this. First, recharging could be as simple as finding the nearest faucet. Second, the battery will last up to twice as long as current battery technologies used in mobile phones today.

The technology is scheduled to arrive in 2010. Also, by then the technology will be even more perfected, and a hydrogen cartridge will no longer be needed.
