Sang Da SD999 wireless surveillance smartphone

YesNo

Hooking up a cellphone to a wireless CCTV camera is a nice idea, but you’d have to be pretty paranoid (and sedentary, for that matter) to want this Sang Da SD999; running Windows Mobile, the smartphone connects to a remote CMOS camera with IR illumination for night-vision, but apparently the real-world range is only about 10 meters (even the official distance, 20-30 meters, isn’t that far).  So if you’re looking to monitor something from a very short way away, this could be the phone for you!

Of course, actually getting hold of one would be a problem; this isn’t going to be showing up in stores outside of China.  Anyone who does find the SD999, however, will get WM5.0, a 3-inch QVGA display, 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD slot and a preinstalled NES emulator.

I liked the shape of Sang Daa Smartphone. Its really better than many available in the market. CCTV option is not useful for everybody. It could be good for people running businesses that involve a lot of public gathering / rush.
