Scalado is improving camera phones with a zero shutter lag solution

Scalado is showing off the new Scalado Camera Solution, this improves JPEG image performance by very effectively managing the large files taken by phones. This solution produces zero-shutter lag, burst capturing and instant zoom in the camera.

One continual problem camera phones are facing is shutter lag. After pressing the button, the camera takes a second to capture the photo often making users miss the photo-op.  By eliminating all shutter lag, users can now have the image they see inside the viewfinder.

“Thanks to the new technology, manufacturers can now offer real-time viewing and capturing of high-resolution images, totally eliminating shutter lag. As a result, camera phone users can finally take memorable photos instead of missing the moment,” says Sami Niemi CTO of Scalado.

The Scalado Camera Solution is made up of two separate products; the Speedtags IP and the Scalado Camera Engine. The SpeedTag IP enables the encoder to create modified JPEG that are called Speedtagged JPEGs. There are plenty of camera sensors and camera modules for cameras that are already embedding the SpeedTag IPs.
