Sony Ericsson’s W910i Walkman cellphone has been named the GSM Associations’ Best Handset of 2008, singling out the music handset from strong competition in a year where HSDPA and EV-DO Rev.A high-speed cellular wireless has seen mobile phones blur the lines with dedicated PMPs.

“We are very proud to receive such a prestigious award for what has proved to be a very popular product” Dick Komiyama, President, Sony Ericsson

The W910i combined high audio quality with an innovative “Shake” control method, whereby tracks could be shuffled by shaking the handset, and the SenseMe categorising system which organised playlists according to tempo and mood.

Sony Ericsson announced the latest in the Walkman cellphone range, the W980i, at the Mobile World Congress this week.

Is this a joke? What inovation W910 has to offer do not even stand a chance next to what iPhone brought to the mobile.
