The iPhone 3G and the Blackberry Bold are often talked about in the same sentence. Whether this is because they offer similar functionality, or it’s merely the latest device war remains to be seen. Even so, there are a few aspects to discuss when holding the devices side by side.

When it comes to appearances, the iPhone is always going to win. If there’s one thing Apple is known for, it’s stylish designs, and the iPhone 3G is no exception. However, some may find the picture quality on the Bold to be sharper, clearer and all-around better. That’s not to say the iPhone is a slouch. Not by a long shot. After all, when your device is targeted toward corporations, it better handle communication well, otherwise, what’s the point? Some may find the virtual keyboard a nuisance on the iPhone, but others love it. Both the QWERTY keyboard of the Blackberry Bold and the virtual one of the iPhone function well–it comes down to preference. 

In the end, these two devices are neck and neck. Which one you opt for will depend on what you need it for. The more business-minded may lean toward the Bold because of its great e-mail functionality while general consumers tend to want the iPhone because of its awesome media capabilities.
