SlingPlayer Mobile for UIQ in Summer; new S60 version in Spring

SlingPlayer Mobile for UIQSling Media, makers of the video-shifting Slingbox, have announced a new SlingPlayer Mobile client for Symbian UIQ.  The app - which will allow users to watch video streamed from their home on their cellphone - will be released this Summer, and give full control of the home TV and, if suitably set up, a PVR for recording shows and playing them back.  The company has also revealed that it is working on a new version of SlingPlayer Mobile for S60, which will now support the Nokia N95 8GB, to be released in the Spring.

The UIQ software will initially support the following handsets, with further models added later:

  • Sony Ericsson P990i
  • Sony Ericsson W960i
  • Sony Ericsson W950i
  • Sony Ericsson M600i
  • Motorola MOTORIZR Z8

Sling Media will continue their pricing for the new versions, with the software coming in at $29.99 US, $34.99 Canadian dollars or £19.99.
