Android is certainly the flavor of the month when it comes to mobile operating systems. Google’s open source OS is being found in more and more smartphones and will make its way into the netbook and notebook market as well as an alternative to Windows.

A new Sony Ericsson handset has been unearthed that is codenamed Rachael. The device is expected to debut officially next year and will be part of the Sony Xperia line. Mobile.nu was able to lay hands on internal documents about the device.

The phone will use a Qualcomm QSD8250 snapdragon platform with speeds up to 1GHz. The device will also operate on HSPA 7.2Mbps networks and will support 3D graphics. The handset will also sport an 8-megapixel camera, 3.5mm headphone jack and use the universal miniUSB connector. The screen is a 4-inch unit believed to have a resolution of 800 x 480.
