Sony Ericsson announces applications submission process for developers

The iPhone is cool, but one of the main things that users of the device enjoy is the App Store with the wealth of applications and games that can be added to the device. The App store proved so successful that Google, Nokia, and RIM each opened their own stores to sell applications for their respective devices.

Sony Ericsson doesn’t want to be out done and wants its piece of the application pie. The company has announced that it plans to begin offering applications specifically for its handsets via PlayNow arena. The service is a fully integrated content marketplace for SE phones and third party developers will be able to submit applications to be included in the store.

The submissions website will open on July 1 reports Sony Ericsson. The big problem for Sony is that it will be hard to convince developers who are focusing on the iTunes App store and other major and very lucrative services to devote time to develop for the PlayNow arena.

Recent anger at Apple rejecting Google will definitely have developers ’shopping around’ giving other app stores a chance to make it. Interesting times.

yes agree, competition in the apple appstore is driving down prices to 0.99 $. at PNA the most apps are sold in the 3 to 4 $ range.

nobody is waiting for another scientific calculator of twitter app. consumers want relevant content and i am sure they are willing to pay for it… more than 99 cents
