It might just be me who thinks this, but Sony Ericsson have been releasing some really attractive handsets lately: well proportioned, solid in appearance despite being made, for the most part, of plastic, and with quirky but tasteful colour schemes. This new R306 might not be packed with the very latest technology – triband GSM, GPRS, Bluetooth and a 1.3-megapixel camera is all you can expect – but it has some retro radio styling and the AM/FM radio to match.

There’s also TrackID, which allows you to grab a clip of music from the radio and, thanks to an online database, identify the artist and track title. Sony Ericsson point out that you can store music on the R306, but considering it has a mere 5MB of memory you won’t be able to keep much more than a couple of ringtones.
The R306 will launch in Q3 2008, though the price is undecided. It’ll be available in both ‘Coffee’ black and ‘Champagne’ white.
