This chunky looking UIQ3.3 handset is apparently Sony Ericsson’s fast-approaching P5 smartphone, which according to the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog – who have video, supposedly, but so far aren’t sharing it – is a slider with a QWERTY keyboard (with two letters per key) and large touchscreen. They also claim it’s due for release in early September, with an official announcement from SE before the end of May.

Unwired View has a few more rumored details about the 16-18mm thick P5; the touchscreen reacts to both finger and stylus, suggesting it’s either not a capacitive one like the iPhone’s or that it uses something like Stantum’s new multitouch display, it will have a 5-megapixel camera, built in GPS and use the Opera Mobile 9 browser. No word on WiFi or an accelerometer.

While this could easily be an early casing design, I much prefer the style direction SE have gone with the XPERIA X1. The P5 in the photo looks more like a Samsung to my confused eyes.
