Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 marketing gets viral

Worth Reading?

YesNo

Viral marketing is everywhere these days. So many companies do it now, it’s sometimes hard to tell what’s a real product, and what’s not. Or what’s a real TV show and what’s not. Even so, Sony Ericsson has jumped on the bandwagon in an effort to push the XPERIA X1.

The marketing campaign is focused around a character named Johnny X. This alternative reality thriller is just a bunch of action scene sequences and sound bites at the moment, but it is engaging like there’s more the the story.

But, there are loads of shots of the XPERIA X1 in use all throughout the video, which I guess is good, right? Regardless, it’s hard to say how well this campaign will work, especially when it’s pretty easy to find out that it’s merely a marketing ploy and not a real show. See it for yourself at WhoisJohnny-X.com.
