If you see holidays such as St Patrick’s day as an opportunity to shamelessly cash in with a so-called “special edition”, then step forward and take a bow: you’re well on your way to being a cellphone marketing expert. As Valentine’s showed us, launching a “new” model need only involve changing the colour and thinking up a slogan; hence Sprint’s green St Patrick’s Day LG Rumor. Of course, green also means environmentally-friendly, so Sprint are especially keen to highlight their new packaging which consists of 70-percent post-consumer waste.

The guts of the green Rumor are the same as its rainbow-hued brethren, of course: a 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD slot, GPS with Sprint’s Navigator package and Bluetooth. Sprint also include a prepaid envelope for you to send in your old handset, which gets recycled through the Project Connect scheme; they use proceeds to fund internet safety classes for young people.
