Femtocells aren’t a big product on the market today, but that will change. The small router-like devices are designed to take a cellular call and route it over a broadband network in a home or office to improve the signal strength and call quality.

Sprint has announced that it received a femtocell industry award for its AIRAVE femtocell by Samsung. The Sprint product was the first commercially available femtocell and won the award for that distinction.
All Sprint phones are compatible with the femtocell and the phones can be upgraded to new models without any issues. The femtocell is ready to use right out of the box with no configuration required. The AIRAVE femtocell is available from Sprint now for $99.99 plus a $4.99 monthly fee.
