Here’s handy for you: if you’re using HTC’s rather lovely Titan smartphone (also known as the Sprint Mogul) and you fancy enabling GPS, an unofficial release of the 3.16.651.0 firmware has been confirmed over at the PPC Geeks forum. Although it apparently doesn’t upgrade the device to Windows Mobile 6.1, it does give access to the Titan/Mogul’s inbuilt GPS receiver and is reported to also improve Bluetooth performance, without a hit on battery life.

The Mogul needs to be unlocked before the new firmware ROM can be applied; there are full instructions in the PPC Geeks thread.
As ever, modifying your cellphone can, if not done correctly, leave you with a bricked handset and potentially contravene your contract with Sprint; you try at your own risk! Saying that, if you do have a go, let us know how you get on in the comments…

I tried this new released version of this firmware. The GPS works and is awesome. EVDO Rev A is very nice also. However, the Bluetooth now has issues with my Plantronics 655. My wife says it now sounds like I am standing in the middle of the Interstate with 18 wheelers zooming by. Nothing I do helps the sound and people are complaining it is hard to hear me. Also the Mogul now randomly turns Bluetooth off.
