Femtocells are widely expected to be a very popular product among wireless customers. Despite the popularity expected for femtocells, we have yet to see them hit the market in a big way. Femtocells will help wireless users to get more signal strength indoors.

A femtocell is like a mini cell tower and takes the CDMA signal from Sprint wireless phones and sends it over the Internet via a broadband connection. Sprint’s femtocell can cover 5000 square feet of home or office.
Sprint announced today that it is now the first major wireless provider offering femtocells for sale to its wholesale partners. The Sprint femtocells will also route calls made using the femtocell to the wireless network automatically when the caller moves out of femtocell range.
