Sprint logoIt seems that Sprint has clicked its collective ruby slippers and found itself back home in Kansas; according to Reuters the carrier is shifting its corporate headquarters back to Overland Park there.  The move will see the senior management team united near to the operational facilities which employs 13,300 people.

“After a thorough review, we determined that this change is necessary now so that our leadership team can concentrate on improving our company’s operations and create a single, performance-based culture” Dan Hesse, CEO, Sprint

Sprint moved the executive team to Reston, Virginia, after the acquisition of Nextel back in 2005; it also has a “significant employee presence” in Washington, D.C.  No timescale has been given for the shift back.

Hesse has been responsible for massive change in Sprint, including 4,000 redundancies and the closure of 125 retail locations, after being charged with turning the carrier’s fortunes around in December 2007.
