Fresh from the rumor-pouch comes word that Sprint will be releasing an iPhone competitor, the Samsung M800, based on the company’s F490 and using the interface of the F700 Croix. Packing EVDO for high-speed media, including Sprint’s streaming TV service, the M800 will lack a QWERTY keyboard such as that found on the F700 and undergo some icon changes to better fit into the carrier’s design ethos.

The screen is believed to be 3.2-inches, the camera a mere 2-megapixels, and while internal memory is undisclosed there’s a microSD slot. Media compatibility is with MP3, WMA and AAC music and H.264 and MPEG-4 video, while recorded footage is stored in the latter format.

No price or release date accompanied the leak.
